Yard work is SO much more fun this year, now that Josie is able to participate.

We had a really disheartening Early Intervention evaluation this week, and it temporarily threw me for a loop. Josie’s Speech and Fine Motor scores were more advanced then the tools the therapists had with them, but her Gross Motor skill score was 15 months. FIFTEEN! I think about how how sad and scared we were when she had her first eval a year ago, and I know we have come a long, long way. Now that she is walking I don’t feel as defensive or isolated. She’s doing so well in physical therapy and I guess I was overconfident going into the evaluation. It doesn’t change who she is, or who we are as a family. So, I’m over it. She’s on her own time schedule.

As long as we can get some cheap labor out of her I don’t care what some silly form test says.

This was the evaluation form after the Whale watching in Cabo. This is a bad example of how to assess a service.

"Gee, our averages are low."
"Oh, then, let’s just remove the numbers from 1 to 4."
"Great idea! Look, our average rating just jumped three points! Good job!"
